Rehearsal
It's 12:45 on Tuesday, and I'm getting ready to go to rehearsal. We rehearse
4 days a week, for about 3 hours a shot. Both of those numbers will increase
in the near future. I'm looking forward to today. I'm going to meet my friend
lyn and we're going to discuss the set. Now Second City is famous for a bare
stage, creating the environment improvisationally. I don't want to fuck that
up but I do like a little more flair. We talked to Kelly last week (Kelly Leonard,
producer) about the possibility of putting levels on the mainstage so as to give
it some depth. It's a weird stage, very flat room and the sight lines are difficult.
It looks like this: (I am now going to Photoshop for a bit):
(10 minutes later)
Well that was more trouble than it was worth, but here it is. It's really well
drawn as you can see.

So.....One really can't play stuff too deep or you lose your sightlines house left
over by the wall. So We're thinking of doing some simple platforms on the stage
to give it verticle depth. I've never said the words "vertical depth" in my life,
I'm sure it's not the appropriate words to describe....oh well.
I'm also looking forward to what we're doing in rehearsal today. After the set
Sunday I made the observation (and so did a couple of people in the cast) that
while we had some really good scenes working, virtually none of them were
physical.....pretty "talky". So the cast is coming in with physical ideas today
which we will pursue. I'm going to crank the rehearsal process into second gear
today and hopefully get two or three more scenes in the show this weekend.
I'm also looking forward to cleaning up the exposition in the scenes we do have.
Busy day, busy week, gotta go for now.
Go to.....
