Georgy Porgy and Other Stories by Roald Dahl
Everyone is familiar with Roald Dahl’s children’s stories, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “James and the Giant Peach,” “Matilda,” and “The Witches.” Not everyone knows that Dahl’s adult short stories are equally as offbeat and entertaining—but with a more mature twist. “Georgy Porgy and Other Stories by Roald Dahl” will use both video and the stage to bring three stories about men and women to life in a night that is anything but romantic.
“Georgy Porgy and Other Stories by Roald Dahl” is adapted and directed by Gina Nicewonger, and performed by veterans of the comedy and theatre scene of Chicago. The performance includes the Dahl stories “William and Mary” in which a widow falls in love with her husband's brain and eyes that are being kept alive with a heart machine, “The Great Switcheroo” in which two men decide to sleep with each other's wives without telling them and “Georgy Porgy” in which a vicar thinks he's been eaten by a woman. Not your typical love stories.
